Location

Villa Demeter is a 45 minute drive from the airport on the outskirts of Skala in the south of the island.  A taxi transfer will cost approximately €55 one way so it it cost effective to hire a car given the extra benefits it will bring.

 The villa is a 15 minute walk (5 minute drive) from Skala where you can find many tavernas and bars along with other facilities such as bakers and ATMs.   The beach at Skala is fantastic and has areas with sunbeds or less busy areas.  As this beach is about 2km long, you are guaranteed to find the perfect spot! 

Also nearby is Spithi beach - a natural beach that can be reached in about 10 minutes from the villa by walking through the adjacent field and a path down to the beach.

A 5-minute drive will take you to Mounda Beach.  This is a long sandy beach that has tavernas as well as long, empty stretches.  Be aware that turtles use Spithi and Mounda for nesting so please do not use parasols or shades that penetrate the sand and avoid the nests - usually marked by the local conservation group with sticks.

Katelios is a picturesque fishing village which is about a 15 minute drive or €10 taxi away.  This has a great selection of tavernas on the beach and is one of our favourite places to spend an evening.
